I have given lessons in the past, but I have grown immensely in regards to my being able to convey musical knowledge accurately. At the age of nine I began my interest in drums in particular. My father was a great pianist, choir director, teacher, vocal instructor, and all around musician. So growing up in this atmosphere has helped me through the years. I have been officially a drummer since I turned ten, and have continued to play in church, bands ( including my own) and for different events of different styles. In 2006, I accepted a position with The Van-Dells and moved to Nashville, Tennessee. After returning in 2007, having received my Journeyman and Professional certificates in percussion, I was hired on in 2007 as a classroom drummer, teaching assistant, and LPW (Live Playing Workshop) instructor, all the while playing gigs with local bands and working doing recording sessions. Not just playing drums and making noise, but making beautiful music. Drums is one of the most versatile instruments and I think its very important to explore and learn about its history in terms of all genres. There is so much to learn from exploring new genres we may not typically be attracted to, and I emphasize that to my students as I truly believe being a well-rounded musician is one of the most important skills we can have.
