Overview:
I'm a passionate and experienced musician with a love of teaching. I have been playing drums for over 15 years. My musicianship began in the 5th grade and has continued throughout my time in high school marching band at Troy High School, where I was in the drumline for all four years. I have participated in worship bands at several local churches in Orange County and Redondo Beach, and have developed my skills both as a drummer, bass player, and audio technician during my decade and a half of experience as a church drummer.
EXPERIENCE
By nature of being a performing musician at a church, I have had contact with many youths over the years that are eager to learn music in order to join the worship band. I have a home studio in my garage that allows me to teach students individually on a set of live drums and bass guitar. I am well versed with individual, private lessons, in addition to group or paired lessons that can instead focus on theory, concepts, and interpersonal musicianship. I am currently completed my Associates at Fullerton College, which will allow me to pursue my Teaching Credential when I attend Cal Poly Pomona in the Fall.
METHODS USED
When teaching my students, my lessons are relaxed and informal, with a focus on building basic knowledge that will be applicable throughout the musical journey- however, I also pride myself in helping my students enjoy music as well, and have the capabilities to record their playing. This not only builds confidence but is an invaluable source of feedback that I find is often overlooked. As early as possible, I try to have my students play along to either a cover song or play along with me, in order to develop skills on the instrument that are practical, meaningful, and interesting. In this way I hope to ensure that music will remain a fond part of their skillset that will last a lifetime.
LESSON STYLE
Attempting to learn an instrument is difficult, and doing so in the presence of an already experienced musician can be intimidating and even discouraging. I am well aware of this fact and make ample effort to make my students comfortable, and to own their music as their own. Each student I teach knows that they are not to simply become a copy of me- instead, their goal is to become their own unique creator that is unlike anyone else. My favorite part of teaching is when a student truly begins to gather enough skills to improvise and play with confidence so they may truly begin to experiment and make their music special!

I have Kevin as a bass teacher and he is an awesome tutor. He's really patient and creates an environment that is easy to learn in.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
