I always start my lessons with the basics. You have to learn the rudiments. We start with a book called stick control and move on to syncopation and more. We learn to hold the sticks the right way so you can play any technique later on. We concentrate on control and sounding clean. We move on to drum beats and fills . Eventually we learn syncopation with hands and feet. We learn dynamics and reading music..... Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, its important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress and this makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the students, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to high school when I began teaching privately. One of my main focuses is the idea of making music. Not just playing drums and making noise, but making beautiful music. Drums is one of the most versatile instruments and I think its very important to explore and learn about its history in terms of all genres. There is so much to learn from exploring new genres we may not typically be attracted to, and I emphasize that to my students as I truly believe being a well-rounded musician is one of the most important skills we can have. I teach from a feel and improvisation stand point. I do start with basic rhythm studies but I love to allow for my students to explore the kit and their own comfort levels. It creates what I feel to be a sense of intimacy between them and the instrument. I believe that feeling comfortable with your instructor and your instrument harbor a much more positive and motivational learning impact on the student. Read More

My style is one that seamlessly adapts to all ages, learning styles, and backgrounds, resulting in a high student retention rate over the years. I provide an exciting and positive environment for students to not only learn fundamentals and techniques, but also to find and express their unique musical voice. As lessons progress at the student's pace, it's important to keep discovering what they love about music and what inspires them to learn (song, artist, style, musician friend). Read More

Some of them have graduated from Berklee, Musician's Institute, and others just see music as a hobby and I respect and encourage them all equally. I've had adult students just picking up an instrument for the first time and seasoned pros that need some new perspective. My teaching has been a massive part of my career, including private lessons, working at School of Rock for 9 years, and masterclasses in my native Venezuela and The Netherlands. Read More

I have a few years teaching experience and I am always excited to begin working with young students who are interested in becoming musicians themselves. I focus a lot on the technical aspects of musicianship because I believe everyone has their own feeling that they bring to music and I want to give my students the tools to be able to express themselves in their own musical way. Practice is definitely important in order for students to get familiar with the instrument and different styles and I also believe that learning different styles of music tends to help students to get better at the ones they like to play.
