If the student is a beginner I'll first try to give him an understanding of how the instrument work, how to have a proper sound and how to memorize the fingerings of the notes. I believe that quality should be the natural product of efficient practice, which can only be achieved by early introduction to good technique, good habits, and positive motivation. When I start with a student, my goal is to make them smile and laugh. I have been working steadily in the music industry for nearly twenty years, and have BM, MM, and DMA degrees in piano performance. I've played cello and piano since childhood and recieved my Masters in Cello Performance from the University of Redlands in May of 2014. Prior to that I recieved my Bachelors in Music Theory and Composition from the University of Northern Colorado. I've also recieved a certificate in Film and Television Scoring from the UCLA Extension. I use a combination of method books and my own original teaching material to emphasize certain topics/skills. Instead of going from one page to the next in a music book, I like to combine multiple books and original practices to keep my students interested.
