My expertise is vast -- encompassing hundreds of performances in a variety of styles from operatic/classical to loud and rowdy rock to sublime Christian church music (old and new); encompassing over a decade's worth of teaching experience, from ages 6 to 72 (so far), on several instruments AND voice. My degrees include theory, composition, and singing, but I have been a composing, improvising, sight-reading pianist from childhood on. I love sharing my knowledge with my students. There is nothing better than to watch them evolve and grow. Also, I love the challenge of teaching young students from five to teenagers and the challenges of teaching adults and advanced students. Read More

No matter what skill level, the fundamentals are always the same: practice, patience, and practice some more. But the key is patience. For beginner students, patience will be vital for overcoming the independence element of controlling both hands and feet. For intermediate students, patience will be needed to advance their technique with practicing rudiments. And for the advanced students, patience through repetition is crucial to fully unlock their potential. I will teach them to combine previous techniques while mastering syncopation. Read More
