I have been teaching for over 10 years as a faculty member at community music schools, as a chamber music and orchestral performance coach, and as an adjunct at Purchase College. Musical games, singing, clapping, and moving are all part of my musical curriculum for children of this age. I reinforce musical and instrumental concepts through play, so they learn without even realizing it! Middling children (Ages 8-12) can often handle a more rigorous curriculum. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons 25 years ago. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. If a student isn't having fun in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! Over my almost 11 years as a freelancer in NYC, I have been lucky enough to perform and record with some incredible singer/songwriters, cabaret singers, and pretty famous rock/hip-hop artists.
