My main foundations for my teaching are rooted in goal setting, collaboration, and engaging music learning. At the beginning of every semester, I like to evaluate the goals from the previous semester, talk about what progress has been made, and what the future goals are. I personally feel that many times students quit because they do not enjoy practicing at home week after week, so for me, collaboration either with students from school, other students in the studio, or in local music schools or orchestras is a must. I tend to attract many adults who always wanted to play the cello, but postponed it, and finally decided its now or never. Similarly, I teach a number of adults who played through adolescence, but quit, and now want to return to playing. I have been teaching for over 10 years as a faculty member at community music schools, as a chamber music and orchestral performance coach, and as an adjunct at Purchase College. My students have been accepted to college conservatories with scholarship, have perform solo at Weill Recital Hall and Symphony Space, had many successfully audition for youth orchestras such as New York Youth and Westchester County Orchestra, and have had individuals receive score high marks at NYSSMA that earned them entrance to All-County and All-State.
