My goal as an instructor is to help my student's achieve their goals, help them be the best they can be, and encourage my students to have fun while doing so! I have a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies from Western Michigan University and a Master of Music degree in Jazz Performance from New England Conservatory. My methods of teaching have been refined over the years and I've found it that methods of teaching have to be tailored to each student. For every lesson I develop a lesson plan that organizes the lesson so there is no time wasted. Teaching voice, piano, and other music related lessons is a position I honor, balancing the technical, musical, and personal goals of each student and making assessments of what to address first. For all my students I design a fun atmosphere where they feel comfortable, stimulated and encouraged to absorb musical knowledge. Depending on their musical backgrounds and their ability I discuss with my students and their parents(depending on student's age) what is their primary goal to achieve during the lesson, what style they want to concentrate on. When we get to know each other I assign my student with Vaccai classical tune (practices vocal technique) and two songs in style preferred, when a student learns and masters these we move on, with more difficult tunes each time. I have learned over the years of recording and practicing how to use my voice and picked up very efficient techniques when I had attended CAPA.
