I normally use the Standard of Excellence method books for most of my students; however, I am open minded to adjusting to each individual student's musical needs, whether it be Jazz, Classical, or whatever style music the student is focusing on. For Drummers, I prefer the Haskell Harr Method, or the Buddy Rich Method Book, as well as the Breeze Easy Method Book. I feel that a student needs to be taught how to practice! I travel around Westchester NY and in addition to teaching the instrument, I encourage students to compose their own original pieces. I usually start with an etude but I have experience with the level system with eastman community school of music and can start a plan based on the needs of the individual. I usually use Hal Leonards Essential Elements for total beginners but have experience with other schools of teaching such as Suzuki. For adult students, I usually start with fundamentals and then touch up on anything that needs improvement based on weekly assessments that are filled out by the student. Read More
