I was not feeling comfortable or patient to practice, which was similar to many other kids. Beyond this, I try to create dialogue that encourages student's to become so adept that they can actually teach themselves. While I've taught all ages, I currently am only accepting highschool and online students for online instruction. Therefore, it is important to let the students progress at their own paces with supervision and slight push. I encourage this by not only setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson and making sure we achieve that, but also by adding, from time to time, interesting notes about the history of music or composer's biography to captivate the students' imagination.
