In August of 2007 I started my first term of college at Castleton University located in Castleton, VT. There I became an established pianist all around Vermont in local churches, schools, bands and as an accompanist to my fellow students at Castleton University. I graduated in 2011 celebrating the completion with my parents and fellow students. I have over 12 years teaching experience both piano and voice to students of all levels and ages. When I work with a student, my first goal is to establish a positive, open dialogue where students feel comfortable asking questions, trying new techniques or styles, and stepping outside of their comfort zone. From there, I prioritize developing a healthy technique in both singing and playing piano, emphasize musical literacy where we regularly work on reading notes on a modern staff notation (with all the accompanying vocabulary), and explore a wide range of repertoire that speaks to the student. I usually start out by doing the methods book but I also stress the importance of playing with others in a group or duet setting. I love getting to play the teacher part with my students so it's more of a collaboration than a solo job. My goal is to have my students play duets with each other if that can be accommodated. I am first and foremost a student. I love being a student and love being open to new forms of music and anything to better my education. In May of 2017 I graduated from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee with a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance. Performance has taught me multiple languages, taken me around the U.S. and parts of Europe, working with the top musicians in the world. I have had great success working with young students by providing a variety of activities each lesson and making sure that learning music is a joyful experience.
