I began teaching piano in 1995, in several private Music Schools, in Porto and Lisbon. Apart from the instrument, I also taught Music Theory, and Music Composition. I taught students aged 6 all the way up to sixty-seven (my oldest so far, but records are meant to be broken). My students have performed in recitals organized by the schools. I like to build units or goals for each student when private teaching . It helps me and the student know what needs to be worked on. I also tend to be a visual instructor , meaning I like to use tricks to teach students different vocal technique. Although I do not mind accommodating to a students needs if their instruction is to be taught differently. I graduated from Central Conservatory of Music of China with a Bachelor of Music Degree in French Horn Performance. I got my master's from The Boston Conservatory of Music in French Horn Performance. I also got a Graduate Performance Diploma in French Horn at The Boston Conservatory. I've had hundreds of performances as a guest musician with China NCPA (National Center for the Performing Arts) Orchestra and played six concerts in America, including Chicago Symphony Center, Stern Auditorium Carnegie Hall, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Davies Symphony Hall, and HillAuditorium, University of Michigan. I have over 12 years teaching experience both piano and voice to students of all levels and ages. When I work with a student, my first goal is to establish a positive, open dialogue where students feel comfortable asking questions, trying new techniques or styles, and stepping outside of their comfort zone. From there, I prioritize developing a healthy technique in both singing and playing piano, emphasize musical literacy where we regularly work on reading notes on a modern staff notation (with all the accompanying vocabulary), and explore a wide range of repertoire that speaks to the student.
