I meet my students where they are when they come into the studio and base the lesson on what they need that day, within an overall framework of growth. Lessons consist of some warm up exercises followed by working on a piece of music, or multiple if lessons are long enough. Exercises are given in which techniques found in the repertoire are practiced. I teach students how to read music and offer graded music theory workbooks so that their comprehension of what is on the page keeps pace with or exceeds their technical ability. Read More

In the United States in 2012, I was the winner of the American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music; recipient of the Grand Prize at the Metropolitan International Piano Competition; and the winner of the AFAF Golden Era of Romantic Music International Competition. In 2013-2015, Ms. Paniyeva was awarded the E.B. Storrs Piano Scholarship from the Musical Club of Hartford. My students love the Faber Faber "Adventures in Music". These method books, in my opinion, have some of the most innovative and motivating pieces. This method gives the student a solid foundation in theory focusing on scales, and used in concert with other materials bring the student to a very proficient level. I also use supplementary materials such as Dozen A Day, Hanon, and Czerny. Martha Mier books for young children, especially her "Imagine" books are unique and inspiring. Read More
