Music is my life! I'm currently finishing up my Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance at Portland State, and teaching music in the Portland community. I am also very fortunate to be an active performer. I've sung lead and supporting roles in many musicals and operas, and am thrilled to be a part of the internationally renowned Portland State Chamber Choir. My teaching experience dates back to when I was in high school, when I began teaching beginning students of all instruments 10 years ago. I have been consistently teaching students in their homes, my home, and online for the past 5 years. UK native, Ella M. studied opera vocals as a soprano at Mannes the new school for music in New York City until 2019. After training at with a professor at Julliard, Ella moved back to the UK to continue her studies at Kings College London while also recording music professionally. She graduated with a bachelors in music performance and found success in releasing her original music. My mother is an opera singer and highly successful voice coach in Vienna, Austria and she not only was the best voice teacher I ever had, but also taught me to teach. My first emphasis is that you have to like what you're playing. I really try to focus on what music gets the student excited. For some of them, it comes quickly. Others it might take a while, and that is okay. Once I find the switch that engages the student's interest, that is my focus. I have worked professionally with children in every age group including age 2, and adults of elderly age. I also have worked with those with ADHD, post stroke, type 1 diabetes ect so I am very comfortable and sympathetic to adjustments whenever necessary. I'm a yoga instructor, and have a very easy going vibe, though I am surprisingly organized and believe in always finding creative techniques to surpass our goals sooner than thought possible. My musical teaching experience can be traced back to my early years in college where I started my own music studio based out of a church. From there, I moved on to a professional school where I was able to work with mainly children and teenagers. As I gained more teaching and academic experience, I began to branch out and build my own private studio out of my home.
