For beginning students, I like to start from Essential elements, Suzuki 1, or Piano Adventures. Students will also likely have a theory workbook or worksheets that match the level of their current repertoire. Intermediate students, we will start using a program called smart music that plays the accompaniment for pieces that we are working on. This will really help develop a great internal sense of rhythm and help students recognize immediately when something needs correcting. Read More

I truly believe that absolutely everyone can sing, and I approach every lesson with a positive attitude and open mind. Just like there are a myriad of instruments in the world, each voice is unique and special. I tailor my instruction to fit what each student needs to help them succeed in achieving their goals. Working on vocalizes and repertoire together to hone their skills and give them the skills they need to practice successfully on their own. Read More

I am a teacher who has studied with many professionals through out my career. I am a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. I was on the road for twenty five years in various musical theatre productions, nightclubs, cruise ships, corporate and industrial shows, dinner theatre, stock, and regional theatre. I have done, films, commercials, and television. My style of teaching combines everything I have learned and experienced from being in the business most of my adult life. Read More

Our first lesson for beginning students I'm going to teach the warm up. How you set up your voice to sing is important for vocal health and will teach breath control. For more advance students I want to hear what they are struggling with and what they want to improve. For most students it's belt range and pitch accuracy. I'll give them a new warm up that will focus on expanding what they are looking to expand. Read More

In short, each lesson will simply include the use of traditional written and aural theory, scales, chords and arpeggios as well as cater to the genre/repertoire preferences and the student's own unique learning style and personality. I encourage effective practicing strategies during the lesson as well as communicate with the parents on how they might enforce practicing at home. Above all, the most important aspect of the learning process is to have FUN. Read More
