For the young beginner musician, I like to use games to hone in and sharpen aural comprehension. Example for advanced singers looking to improve belt range, a shortcut is to improve the soprano/mix range and then go backwards twords the belt. No one believes this works until they do it. I first started teaching in the 1990s, in Boston, MA., both privately, and at Berklee College of Music. Since moving to Sarasota, I've taught voice/chorus at Out Of Door Academy and IMG Academy. I've thoroughly enjoyed working with students who are motivated to learn and grow, sing for their personal pleasure, and/or with professional goals in mind. I've had quite extensive experiences in teaching. Teaching and tutoring began during my high school days. I would help out after classes or teach piano on the side. Coming up will be my 6th year in teaching piano. I've also tutored my peers all throughout college in music theory, musicianship, and ear/aural training. I've interned at an elementary school for a semester teaching general music. I was even able to get the opportunity to go to Japan for three months and teach English and translate for the United States Navy. Read More
