I use multiples methods. One of them is the Susuki method. I consider that is a good method for beginners with a lot of techniques exercises and also includes pieces. For me it is essential that a student learn first all the techniques exercises and then start to create music. When teaching music (or anything), I always attempt to meet the students where they are: For example, when teaching a young beginner, I m a young beginner, I would probably explain the scale by singing the, "Doe, a Deer," song (from The sound of Music) - everyone knows that. I try to keep things light, simple and fun, while challenging at the same time. I am not interested in any student under 18 years old.  How about the student's PARENTS ? Also, I am not able to go to students' homes. I don't have a car. All my students (Guitar, Violin, mandolin), get a special 4 color chart (of my unique design), with every song/tune they learn. This guards against forgetting the tune in the future.
