Having taught well over 300 students over the last 10 years, Jason does not subscribe to any one particular method of teaching, no matter if it's guitar, voice or bass. The pursuit of music and creativity is unique to each individual and, therefore, each individual needs to be taught differently to help them discover and maximize their own abilities.Jason is a highly accomplished musician who believes that learning to read music and understand music theory is vastly important, but doesn't use the same approach, resources, books, etc. for each student. For beginning students, I typically start with the Hal Leonard Method Books. Once the student can get the basics down I start with basic rock and pop tunes, or whatever music the student happens to be interested in. Forintermediateor advanced players, I try to gage where the student wants to go with the instrument and try to help them any way I can with theory or performance. I try to keep the student engaged and having fun no matter what but at the same time becoming a better musician. Read More

Effective music education is both developmentally and culturally appropriate: By working with the student to understand their interests, I hope to provide them with an experience that will enrich their musical and social life outside of the work we do together. Through infancy, I believe Music Learning Theory is effective for developing musical and linguistic skills. If a student in toddlerhood/childhood shows that they have a preferred way to express themselves musically, I will tailor lessons around the Kodaly (voice), Orff (instrumental), or Dalcroze (dance) philosophies. Instruments: Voice
There are many methods in voice, but my favorite teaching method is Vaccai. Its a simple and thorough method that explores intervalic reading and understanding theory, as well as classical breath training. I also teach vocal improvisation with jazz standards and allow my students to research about other styles and genres that they are curious about. The most important thing is they keep a good vocal health practice that allows them to be versatile and creative. Singing is such a personal and meditative instrument that the more time you spend understanding your voice the more you will be able to achieve. Read More

So I feel like I am going to be repeating myself but here we go :). I really love singing and i believe that all people should sing. The voice is a muscle and so can be trained to improve like any other muscle in the body. Whether you are singing for fun or singing for a profession or singing in an armature choir you can become a better version of your self. Read More

Im a very go with the flow type of teacher. I will always cater to my students needs, so if that means sticking with one song for a year, thats what we will do. What I dont want to happen is for music to become a chore, so if we find that something isnt working, I have no problem switching it up. Any progress we make in lessons is good progress, and I will make sure to acknowledge that. Read More
