I've been teaching for a little over 6 years, working with students of all levels ranging from beginners to Broadway professionals. I teach speech skills acquisition from a kinesthetic and descriptive basis rather than an arbitrary linguistic standard, in order to respect the individual and focus on what is fundamentally useful to the artistic process— “the ability to adapt”. My role is to add to a student's repertoire of skills, not to diminish the student's sense of what is appropriate or possible on stage. By explicitly addressing both the objective facts of vocal production and the subjective nature of vocal experience in my teaching, I help the students to free themselves to learn in a way that suits the individual situation. My teaching experience dates back to the mid 2000's when I began teaching children's musical theater classes for various organisations, such as Vogue Entertainment, Barking Gecko Theatre Company, The Song Room and Majkidz, in my hometown of Perth, Western Australia. I also began teaching private lessons to 8-16 year olds, focusing mainly on musical theater and classical repertoire. As a cabaret performer, I also have experience singing pop, folk and jazz repertoire, so am also comfortable teaching these styles. Read More

While in school, I had the opportunity to student teach at LaGuardia High School. I loved working with the students there. I worked with students in private lessons as well as in choirs. Coming from an education background, I have several diverse experiences which qualify me to teach music. In college I majored in music education and developed tools to introduce beginners, both children and older amateurs, to music. I student taught students K-12 in choir, piano, theater, and general music. I was named a 2021 National YoungArts Foundation Finalist in Popular Voice and received the Merit Winner award for songwriting in the 2020 YoungArts Competition. I was selected into Grammy Camp 2020 and 2021 for Vocal Performance, NYU Contemporary Voice Workshop in 2020, and the NYU Songwriting Intensive in 2020. I won 1st in the 2019 NATS NJ Doris Lenz competition, 1st in the 2020 NATS NY, and 2nd in the 2021 NATS Eastern Competition. I was also recognized as a semi-finalist for the 2020 Hal Leonard vocal competition in the musical theater category and received the best soloist award for Blues/Pop/Rock Voice in the Downbeat Magazine 2021 Competition.
