My teaching experience dates back to my undergraduate experience, where I vocal and music directed 6 student theater productions. This includes providing one-on-one vocal instruction for leads and ensemble members and teaching full vocal scores to ensembles of over 20. I was also the music director of my A Cappella group, so I have experience auditioning, training, and rehearsing a cappella singers. I am also a trained pianist and accompanist, so I provide tracks for students virtually and live accompaniment for in-person lessons and use these skills to provide piano lessons. Read More

I would begin each lesson with a vocal warmup so that I can see where their tone is placed and if they are an alto/soprano/tenor/etc. I would ask what genres they are interested in or what types of music they like. If they have a song they'd want to learn, we would practice that song and work on technique so that they can perform it in a healthy and confident way. Read More

I focus on confidence and realism in my teaching. I believe in finding a students "true voice" rather than having them imitate what they hear on recordings. Every student is unique, and every student has a magnificent voice waiting to be unleashed! For beginning students I typically start with breathing techniques and an explanation of the anatomy of the instrument. I enjoy success stories. As a teacher, I enjoy seeing my students successful. I try to take very little credit, especially in public, because ultimately, it is the students who get out on stage and put themselves on the line. As a professional singer, I understand what they need to do to succeed and will support them the best I can in fulfilling their dreams. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music and they start performing ! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson and I also give them homework to practice.
