I have been teaching since I was studying at The University of Tampa in 2006. Since, I have taught students in Upstate New York while studying and graduating from SUNY Adirondack. Most recently Ihave been teaching studentsin the Riverview area while studying for my bachelors degreefor thepast 3 years. I use some custom lesson plans, including some of the following: For piano, I explain the music score to start elementary reading, work on hand and finger positioning, and move to simple scaler melodies. I introduce chord theory and understanding including triads, position changes, an later on sevenths and ninths. Exercises include scales for 1 and the 2 hands, Hanon exercises, and more. I have over 16 years experience in playing and performing vocal, guitar and various percussion instruments. I have been teaching music since I was 16 years old. I also have teaching experience as a TA in a university setting. I have taken parts in literally hundreds of performances ranging from concert halls to local bars and private parties. My teaching experience started in Graduate school, at Indiana University. I taught voice lessons to a violin major who was interested in taking voice lessons on the side. Since then, I've maintained a voice studio from my home and remotely, as I've traveled and moved around the country for singing work. I've been based in Tampa, FL now for close to seven years, and was teaching voice lessons via Face-time and Zoom from 2020-2021, and then also began in-person lessons from my home after Fall of 2021. I teach the student as much as they can absorb while making sure they understand the material.I have never run out of material to teach.I teach proper technique and about scales because every song written is based on scales.I also work on songs with the student at the same time so they can see and understand how the songs and scales are used together.After the basics are understood we move on to songs the student wants to learn.I can also tailor lessons to a students wants or needs if desired.I have been doing this quite a while and understand what works. I began offering private string lessons in College during summers in Florida. I taught private string lessons. Further into my education I took internships in music therapy working with many different populations. I gave therapeutic music lessons to patients in hospitals like Massachusetts General Hospital, Worcester Recovery Center and McLean Hospital. There I ventured into teaching guitar and voice.
