I like to work with students individually for their own goals and skill level. For younger students, we work on msuciality and basics of singing through devleopmentally appropriate (and fun!) songs. Regardless of the student's level, each lesson contains singing repertoire, vocal exercises to work on technique, and musicianship skills. The combination of these elements will depend entirely on the student's needs and desires! My studio is a place to sound bad. It's a place to make as many mistakes as possible. Your voice may crack, you may hate the way it sounds in your head, but good practice involves failure. If you are in my studio, you are here to work. Practice is not necessarily fun. Everyone wants to leave their first lesson belting for the rafters, but we won't go there until you're ready- it might only ingrain poor habits and set you up for failure down the road. Read More

I have always had a love of teaching and for the intricacies of Vocal Technique. I have built a private studio on the foundations of traditional bel canto technique with a strong emphasis on the Italian School. I believe in consistent practice with scales, arpeggios and other exercises that help students build and strengthen their voices and navigate their registers. I only have one aim on why I teach. I want to see my students bring out the best in them, see their strength in their talent, be inspired and motivated, be able to find their own niche and ultimately become better performers. Just seeing them grow in the passion they've chosen is a huge accomplishment for me. I believe that in teaching, I am learning as well. During the first lesson, I have a short discussion with the student to see what their goals are. I also ask what about music interests them. I then ask them to perform anything of their choice to assess their ability level (if applicable). After that, I tell them what immediately needs to be addressed and how this will work with their longterm goal. I like to promote a positive and encouraging atmosphere, whilst also providing constructive feedback during lessons. If there is something a student is having difficulty with, I look at various ways in which we can work to improve the situation. I like to keep lessons fun and engaging but am also very passionate and serious about singing, so my style is a healthy mix between the two. I began teaching private lessons four years ago in various genres such as jazz, pop, musical theater, and classical - with a bit of music theory for those who have expressed interest. Students of mine have participated in recitals and have written their own compositions. On top of private lessons, I was a Choral Music Instructor for the Massachusetts city, Chelsea, and its Community Youth Chorus. I also taught a voice class for the city of Chelsea that explored, group singing, music theory, breathing, posture, and vocal health. Read More
