Practice is ideal for each student. I encourage my students in their practicing. Progress will be made most quickly by those students who maintain the recommended practicing time (1 hour per day). Parents are also encouraged to be involved in their students practice. Through our discovery of what music elicits a passionate response we will tailor our work towards building a foundation that best fits each student. Materials will vary widely based on the students needs. We will explore a variety of exercises that will help you understand the many sounds you can make using your voice. For intermediate students, I'm interested in attaching your technique to your repertoire. With all my students, I like to first figure out their goals and tailor our lessons to match each individuals aspirations. For every singer I will assign various vocal exercises to practice each week. We also will work on sight-reading exercises to encourage a high level of musicianship. For beginners, I typically like to start with the 24 Italian Arias and/or light musical theater pieces to establish a good technical foundation and gradually move on to more advanced repertoire.
