I started teaching when I was in high school just to make a little bit of extra money, but I found out that I really enjoyed it. I also taught while in college. Upon graduating SUNY New Paltz I started teaching full time and supplemented this with gigs. By having up to 60 students a week I was able to work with people of various ages, abilities, and interests. I have also had the good fortune to have taught at The National Guitar Workshop, SUNY New Paltz, and Rockland Community College, as well as privately. Read More

It is my belief that every child deserves the gift of music. It brings me great joy to watch children of all ages embark upon the wonder that is music. My objective especially for younger learners is to keep my students both engaged and having fun. I have taught children piano, general music, and guitar in Chinatown NYC to as far south as Trinidad where I led a master class for elementary students. Read More

Greetings! I'm a professional bassist and i've had the good fortune to have recorded & toured internationally (US, Canada, Mexico, much of S America, much of Europe, North Africa, Russia, Australia, Caribbean, all multiple times) with a number of well-known artists, inclusive of several different styles of music. The joy of musical expression is simply unparalleled, and the challenge of continued exploration and improvement is stimulating and fun. I took piano for 6 years as a child, then as a teenager began playing bass in rock, pop and R&B groups, as well as in school productions. Read More

I use written materials including songs that have already been written by other composers, as well as my own etudes so that the lesson can be properly practiced. Depending on the individual student's technical ability and style of music they wish to learn, I write practice exercises specifically catered to them. These exercises will be focused on whichever technique we cover in the lesson, and after completion of this homework assignment, the technique should become second nature. Read More

I played in a couple of local bar bands at this time. After college I started a ska/punk band which toured for many years as part of the 3rd wave ska scene. We got lots of college radio play and played many live shows both in the NYC area and on the road. We were fortunate to record in some top major label studios during which time I learned a lot about the production and mixdown process. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to since I was 16 years old. I've been playing the guitar and singing since I was 12, so after 4 years of experience and a lot of practice it was suggested that I should also teach others what I've learned. I started as a volunteer teacher in a clinic, to then teach in the student's own house and charging for it. The key point to learning fast is practicing a little bit VERY often, so that the brain can assimilate what it is learning. Read More
