Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

Learn With Me! Want to be a musical chameleon or become a virtuoso on one instrument? You're in the right place. My goal with teaching music is to equip students with the tools and mindset necessary to free themselves of limitations. I want to work with you to identify your goals, and work towards them in which you will actually have fun and learn. Before taking lessons, I invite prospective students to do a trial session in which you can experience my teaching method and I can answer any questions you may have. Read More

The first teaching concept I focus on is the capacity to produce great sounds with the least amount of effort. Therefore I spend some time in getting the student to play very relaxed to create a relationship with body and mind, I believe music is an extension of the body and so if the mind and body are relaxed then music will come out flawless. We will use students ideas of songs they are interested in learning as well as some of my own suggestions for repertoire. Read More

For adolescent beginner piano students I recommend 'John Thompson's Earliest Piano Course'. In this series Books I-III build a strong base upon which a student can specialize in different genre and styles graduating from book III. For adult students beginning I would suggest John Thompon's Adult (or Modern) Piano Course. The pacing of this book is far more accelerated and more in keeping with an adult pace to work with. The foundation of any good technique is the most important aspect of maintaining that technique in a healthy way; similar to a dancer practicing at the bar each day, I encourage my students to internalize the foundational warm-ups first, upon which we'll build the rest of the vocal practice. Students are also encouraged to go at their own pace, and bring in any material that inspires them - the best singing is done when it's enjoyable! Read More

My method of teaching is centered around building technique and encouraging hard work, all whilst finding the inspiration within and keeping my students excited to learn. In the first lesson, I have the student bring me a list of goals and then prepare future lessons individually tailored to their needs. I teach vocal and breathing technique, repertoire and interpretation. I also provide exercises that help tackle performance anxiety for those that need help with this common problem. For my jazz students, I also offer the opportunity to learn improvisation and scatting. Read More
