I have been teaching for 10 years now and have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with anyone interested in learning music. I graduated in 2011 with a BA in music education from Brooklyn College, and recently graduated with a MA in Jazz Performance in 2020 from New Jersey City University. I enjoy teaching violin to students of all ages and seeing them progress from novices to advanced players.I develop a rapport with the students and their parents and tailor the lessons to match their goals. Several of my students have auditioned and been accepted by orchestras such as the Essex County Youth Symphony, the NJ Youth Symphony, the Westfield Youtn Orchestra and the  Montclair Gamer Orchestra. At times, some exercises are assigned for homework if it was not completed in class during the assigned time. For Piano, I start with warm-ups using simple finger exercises to learn fingering and improve muscles, flexibility and hand dexterity. These are implemented by using the study of scales, varied finger technique exercises from books like Dozen a Day and Hannon and or by rote (demonstrated by teacher and student visually attend and imitate). I have over 25 years experience playing gigs as a trumpeter,cornetist, pianist, composer, and bandleader (even as a singer once in a while). I am a passionate and dedicated instructor, who has been working on training the voice for 9 years. In 2017, I graduated from Western Connecticut State University with a degree in Music, concentration in Classical Voice. From there Ive been working on my masters at the University of Bridgeport in Music Education. I will obtain that degree in December of 2019.
