For students who are young children, I like to start working on fundamental musical and singing concepts, including posture, breath management, pitch matching, music literacy, and expression. I work with each student to find songs which are appropriate for their voice, and songs they are excited about working on. The ultimate goal that I have for my students is to see that they have the same passion for music that I found when I was at my beginning. Nothing is more satisfying than seeing a student revel in their own personal relationship with music, but to share their love of music, this is paramount.
