My lesson style varies depending on the student's learning style, personality, preferences, etc. I usually get a sense of the learning style of a given student within 3 or 4 lessons, and if I don't I have a special test to find out. Students learn best when the teaching favors their learning style and preferred pace. Some students like to take things slow, be methodical, and are very visual. Each student progresses at their own pace; therefore, I don't impose "deadlines" as to when a student should advance to the next level.  A lot of that comes from the individual's motivation and reason for learning the instrument.  During a lesson, I go over concepts in a given piece, help discover where more difficult passages will be, and show the student the techniques needed to master those elements.  The main part of the lesson, however, is on the STUDENT...and by that I mean PRACTICE to prepare for the next week's progression. I ALSO TEACH IN PATTERNS & NUMBERS over just notes, this way, one can play any piece in any key much easier! I will paint mental pictures that will help my students to never forget what Im teaching. I am a graduate from Texas AM University Kingsville. I studied with soprano Dr. Melinda Brou during my undergraduate years. I received my BM in 2013, and I am now working on my MM at the University of Texas at Austin where I study under the direction of baritone David Small.
