I am a firm believer that most of the learning is done outside the lesson through the student's application of what he/she learned during the lesson. They learn to read music almost immediately, and I give them the tools to be able to pick up any piece of music and play it independently. I haven't had much teaching experience, but I have worked with teenagers throughout this last year while getting my Associates of Arts degree over at Lone Star Community College. My high school choir director asked me if I would like to start helping out high school students with providing voice lessons, and of course, I said yes. I helped out three seniors in high school this last semester, and two out of the three of them are actually heading to Texas colleges to pursue a career in music. Read More
