I believe in practice and routine as a foundation to learning, but also improvisation and experimentation. I have been teaching continuously since 2002. I started by teaching undergraduate students at UT and continued in high schools and middle schools in the greater austin area. I encourage students to find the best fit for their interests and talents during lessons. Some students want to be able to sing better in church or school choirs, while others are interested in musical solos or college auditions. My process is based on (but does not adhere strictly to) the Classical approach to Western tonal harmony and asks that the students develop certain fundamentals of technique and theory.  In my experience, this structure creates the strongest foundation for pupils to build the rest of their musical lives on, whether professionally or solely for personal enjoyment.  All of my students are on the fast track to studying music theory. I am passionate about helping vocal students reach within and find their confidence. I encourage my students to find their joy while they're singing and to connect their emotions with the music-- that is the central focus of performance. I assist students in improving their singing for original music they have written as well as their favorite songs by other artists that they love to sing. From learning on the streets to playing on stages to studying music in 3 colleges and working in the record business at Caroline Distribution, MCA, Geffen and Engine/Blackout Records as well as working as a touring stage manager and personal assistant with Peter, Paul and Mary and being the member of dozens of performing/recording bands including my position as a founding member of the Metal Blade recording artist, Gypsyhawk and being listed in the Encyclopedia Metallum and having toured and performed at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts with a theater troupe and my work with soundtracks and original compositions/recordings, I have had and continue to pursue the muse in my widely varied and exciting career in music. I am a graduate from Texas AM University Kingsville. I studied with soprano Dr. Melinda Brou during my undergraduate years. I received my BM in 2013, and I am now working on my MM at the University of Texas at Austin where I study under the direction of baritone David Small. My greatest experiences as a singer have been performing operatic and musical roles such as Danny Zuko in "Grease" (Laredo Community College), Papageno in "The Magic Flute (Texas AM University Kingsville), and The Learned Judge in "Trial by Jury" (Texas AM University Kingsville).
