I am a graduate from Texas AM University Kingsville. I studied with soprano Dr. Melinda Brou during my undergraduate years. I received my BM in 2013, and I am now working on my MM at the University of Texas at Austin where I study under the direction of baritone David Small. My greatest experiences as a singer have been performing operatic and musical roles such as Danny Zuko in "Grease" (Laredo Community College), Papageno in "The Magic Flute (Texas AM University Kingsville), and The Learned Judge in "Trial by Jury" (Texas AM University Kingsville). For students who are young children, I like to start working on fundamental musical and singing concepts, including posture, breath management, pitch matching, music literacy, and expression. I work with each student to find songs which are appropriate for their voice, and songs they are excited about working on. For adult students, I aim to find out what the student's goals are and use my knowledge and resources to help them achieve those goals. Read More

My life's work is to spread the joy of learning and playing music and helping all who wish to learn to hone or to obtain the skills needed to do just that. I have successfully done so professionally for the past 20 years. I deeply listen and observe the student's needs and respond to each individual with an approach that best suits their goals and have helped dozens of students of all ages bring out the inner-musician in themselves. I begin with a meeting. A meeting about you...How you are doing this fine day. We will make GREAT MUSIC together and learn more about music and the world's vibrations together. I want you to tell me what it is you want me to teach you, and in the process I will learn how you learn. You teach me while I teach you; then the music will flow from ALL DIRECTIONS! =) My philosophy is a simple one. "If you put the work in you will improve." We will go at the pace that you desire and what you show me you are prepared for. Read More

For beginning students, around ages 5-9, I start with easy songs, but also teach them how singing works. I like to teach technique, and help students improve in their singing. Once students have grasped the fundamentals of singing, I'll let them start looking at solo repertoire so they can practice for a recital performance. For intermediate and advanced students, I like to see what they are interested in to see how I can teach them, and be able to keep them more engaged. Read More

I've had the opportunity to take guitar and voice lessons from a number of great instructors, and have learned a multitude of great methods from them. When learning the fundamentals of guitar, I find it easiest to first learn through visually learning the hand shapes and hearing the different notes and intervals. The names of the chords and sight reading can come secondary once you have a basic understanding of how to play. Read More

I've received instruction from Robert Skiles (Beto y Los Fairlanes), Rich Harney, Riley Osbourne and Grammy-winning pianist, Floyd Domino, among others. After traveling much of the world as a musician, I am pleased to return to my hometown and share what I've learned with those seeking instruction. My teaching style ranges from simplified beginner lessons that facilitate a basic understanding of music and the piano, to demonstrating shortcuts and tradecraft for more advanced ensemble players.
