These local children reminded me of myself when I was younger and strived to study music with a financially-difficult background. Helping these kids really was the highlight of my day as I could see how music has helped them grow. I will always feel grateful and excited to give back to my communities through what I do. After moving for college, I have continued to teach and tutor students and expanding these lessons to include more subjects such as songwriting, music theory, and music business. Read More

Hello, my name is Nate Bernard. I have been guitar instructing on and off for 15 years along with performing and recording music. I teach strictly by the book as I feel any student I teach who are just starting out, will have a better understanding of their instrument in the long run. I like to make learning the guitar fun, and put to ease the frustrations of doing assignments that will inspire any child or adult to want to learn more. Read More

While I aim to help students become their best, I ultimately want them to have fun above all else. I believe progress looks different for everyone, and I am very patient and happy to go over something more than once. Learning an instrument is more of a marathon than a sprint in my eyes, and I hope to guide each student on their own musical path. Lessons can range anywhere from simply learning about the instrument itself, going over foundational music theory(notes, chords, scales, intervals, and so on), learning site reading and tablature and the benefits of both. Apart from treating time as the precious resource it is (meaning I will give your time the utmost respect and expect the same from you) . . . my style is friendly, patient, and "open" to an extreme. If you have particular goals, communicate them to me, and I will teach you everything relevant to them. If you don't, I will help you identify your goals. If you want to remain "goal-free" (for example, because you used to have some forceful teacher, punishing you for your "lack of dedication" or the like), I have a blast simply looking into facets of music with a curious student. Instruments: Piano Voice
I started teaching private piano lessons while getting my masters in piano. I have over 25 years of experience and can adapt my teaching style according to the needs of the students. I have worked with students with IEPs in school, retired individuals who just want to enjoy making music, and very young beginners. Sme of my students have continued their musical studies and have been accepted in music colleges. Even if they eventually switch to a different musical instrument, the knowledge and experience gained in piano lessons cannot be measured because all aspects eventually make further learning much easier. With my education being from one of the world's leading contemporary institutes for music, I have a diverse resume of music experience. I have performed in many different venues like Symphony Hall and Agganis Arena in Boston where I attended Berklee College of Music. My original instrument is viola. I took up violin, guitar, and voice short after. Whether you are looking for a classical strings teacher, you are interested in fiddle tunes or folk styles, want to learn to sing or play guitar, look no further! Read More

Since I am also a composer and arranger, I tend to be partial towards the use of my own "homemade" methods.... taking on the idea of composers like Mozart, Beethoven and Schumann (example would be Album of the Young) and writing simple pieces that reinforce specific technical challenges like double thirds, left hand arpeggios, consecutive octaves, pedalling and so on. Sometimes if I have a student that likes Pink Floyd or Eric Clapton, for instance, I will do my best to come up with a simplified version of a particular song using good ole staff paper. Read More
