Instruments: Piano

My approach to teaching piano centers around making the material accessible and easy to understand. This can involve using a variety of techniques such as breaking down complex concepts into smaller pieces, using analogies, and providing practical examples to illustrate the material. I also believe that it's important to encourage students to actively participate in their own learning process. This can include asking questions, practicing techniques, and engaging in creative problem-solving exercises. Read More

Each lesson typically has one large idea that is focused on, and given the proper amount of care, those big ideas transfer from fundamental technique to true music making. I also pride myself on being a very relaxed and inviting teacher. Each milestone is celebrated and whenever something difficult is overcome in a lesson, I make a point to remind all my students of what they're capable of, both in music and in life! Read More
