Books I use for teaching Piano is the Piano Adventures series of books by Nancy and Randall Faber, which is a great lesson book and a good basic piano method for beginners through intermediate level students. For guitar I use the Hal Leonard Incredible Chord Finder and the Warren Nunes Jazz guitar Rhythm and Background Chords and the Solo Patterns book. While it is important to correct errors in order to be able to learn, i think it is equally if not more important to focus on a students accomplishments. Setting realistic goals is also important when working with students.
