For the begining for those students that they don't know music i teach them the basic, for example i start with the rhythm and after the fundamentals. They are going to learn how to read simple notes. Once they have a grasp of the fundamentals they are ready to be introduce into the piano. For beginning students I usually start with Essential Elements 2000 for strings because it helps them get familiarized with the notes on the music staff even when they don't have any music theory knowledge. I also like to use Suzuki as they progress with the instrument and know the essentials like how to hold the instrument properly and how to hold the bow properly. Suzuki is also for beginners but it has a little more complex exercises which is why I wait to introduce Suzuki to them. Read More

For older children and adults I start with the two books mentioned, as well as learning to read and count rhythms as well as basic music theory knowledge. I then progress to learning the fundamnetal grooves of Rock,Swing, and other styles, just to introduce the student to a variety of vocabulary on the drumset.
