I like to encourage students to get on a practicing schedule especially for younger students as it helps them get more interested in the instrument. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a student progress, or better yet, develop a love for music. When my students succeed, I feel as though I have. I feel as though every student should progress at their own pace and music especially should not be something that stresses the student out (especially when it is art). When I teach music, I make sure to emphasize sustainability. I try to incorporate different exercises for each piece of music to keep things interesting for my students. I believe active physical engagement of the body is important to achieve freedom for the voice. This is particularly helpful for younger children to keep their minds from wandering during the lesson. I often ask for feedback from the students, to check in on how they are feeling physically and vocally. I grew up in Los Angeles and later relocated to the east coast to pursue my music degree. I live in Amherst, Massachusetts where I teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced vocal students via Facetime and Zoom as well as in person lessons in various locations. In my free time I love to travel.
