My method of teaching is centered around building technique and encouraging hard work, all whilst finding the inspiration within and keeping my students excited to learn. In the first lesson, I have the student bring me a list of goals and then prepare future lessons individually tailored to their needs. I teach vocal and breathing technique, repertoire and interpretation. I also provide exercises that help tackle performance anxiety for those that need help with this common problem. For my jazz students, I also offer the opportunity to learn improvisation and scatting. Read More

For younger students, I believe learning basic music theory is a great foundation for understanding music and will overall help your musicality. Scales and warmups are extremely important in a new student as well, as they develop your voice and breathing in order to sing more challenging material in the future. I really enjoy the book "Singing Lessons for Little Singers" as it provides a great background on theory, breathing, and correct vocal placement. Read More

I've had over 20 years of teaching experience in guitar for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students, 13 years of teaching experience in piano for beginners and intermediate students, and 7 years of teaching experience in Bass guitar for beginner students. I demonstrate technique of performing, lend tips on how to correct mistakes, and show how to further their experience while developing his or her own style. I'm very encouraging, always emphasizing a positive and productive approach to learning. Read More

My teaching style is very unique and I call it the chameleon music style. Just like the chameleon changes color to his surrounding environment, I like to be open for change. According to the students needs and convent from the parents I can push the students to excellent technical abilities, but I can also be fun and not make the lessons boring. In my music studio there are no judgements and no shaming. Read More

Piano: I typically teach out of Fabre's piano adventures series. this establishes technique, aural skills, sight-reading skills, and then I'll add on my own exercises for compositional skills and improvisational skills. I am flexible to work outside of the books as well, and to learn songs and material that might be outside of the book. I also recognize that every student is different and will cater the material and course of study to the individual (based on a mix of my observations, what the students communicated goals are, and what the parents communicated goals are) above all of this, my main goal is to spark and maintain the excitement for making music! Beginning Piano Students: I use three books in the Piano Adventures series: (Performance, Lesson, and Theory). I work composition into the lesson using the Orff-Schulwerk technique of elemental music creation. In addition, I supplement written musical work as needed. Voice Students: I interview all voice students first to see what their goals are in voice study. I then begin vocal study with the study of posture using Alexander Technique ideas, and a study of breathing and support techniques. Read More

I began teaching in high school due to me being the student director of the choir and my choir director knowing my background vocally, encouraged me to help some of the incoming students and choir hopefuls. By the end of my junior year of high school, I was giving private lessons 5 times a week and directed some pieces during competitions. While attending college, I was gathered to coach some of the other musical theatre students in music theory and in musical theatre performance. Read More
