I would say that I am quite fungible when it comes to a particular style of teaching. I always try to bring a lot of energy and excitement to each individual student! I will teach my methods, but try to find the right language for the student to best understand. Every person is different in how they learn and I think it is important to be adaptable to see the best progress and success with students. Read More

I am passionate about sharing my gift love of music with students of all ages, especially school aged children. Currently I teach privately as well as volunteer with an afterschool program. I am also the musical director of my band. We perform corporate events and also have toured with RB and Pop artists such as Hi-Five, Robbie Nova, and Esnavi to name a few. I always enjoy giving back my gifts talents to the next generation and truly paying forward! Read More

A way a student learns is important because everyone learns at a different pace. Also, each student has different interests. Patience and being positive are the key characteristics to progress.  Learning can be a frustrating journey if the teacher and student don't meet eye to eye. It is important for me to let students learn songs they want to play and tailor to their interests.  My teaching style would be a layman term type with a progressive style. Read More

All I want is to know that my students are enjoying music more deeply, and that they gain the self-sufficiency to learn between lessons. I make sure to point out milestones that a student has achieved to encourage that innate human drive for improvement, and always keep looking for what is exciting and inspiring for the student at a given time. I make sure each student I work with knows what elements to include in their practice, how to learn a piece of music from scratch, and how to break things down into manageable, learnable chunks. Positive reinforcement is key. I never learned from the mean or the overly strict teachers. In fact those teachers pushed me in the opposite direction of wanting to pursue music professionally. By going at the pace that is comfortable to the student, and praising them at every hurdle they encounter, the progress made can be exponentially greater than if the student is rushed to prepare a piece of music they don't truly care for in the first place. I vary my teaching methods according to the level and needs of each student. Each and every lesson is tailored toward the musical goals and dreams of the students. I believe in creating engaging lessons that students will enjoy but also learn a great deal from. For beginner students, I show them some fun ways of working on their breathing techniques, then I sing short melodies to them and ask them to sing them back to me, then I let them sing a little melody to me and I sing it back to them. For older or more advanced students, I find the Guild Series to be quite effective and interesting. With these students, following their interest, we continue with sight singing, composition and improvisation. With adults, we work on what they're interested in (classical, rock, blues, gospel), but with a firm grounding in fundamentals: scales, cadences, etc. For all my students if they don't respond to one set of materials, we switch to another until we can find a good match. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
