For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Suzuki Method. I introduce the student to basic instrumental technique on their chosen instrument, whether it be violin or piano. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

My teaching experience started from my college days. I began teaching private lesson in Arizona State University String Project for two years and had been teaching students 10 students from the age of 5 to 18. I encourage regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I recommend to students. In order to gain a passion for the instrument, I have taught a combination of classical and pop music. Read More

My musical lesson or lecture is a creative process where there is no teacher and students, but there are senior and younger colleagues who create in common this process of creativity. The creative growth of the student is defined not by quantity of the learnt homework, but by quality of employment and display of his creative activity in any process. I should always take into account interest of the student and direct him on his way, chosen by him: (classics or another stiles). Read More

For beginner students, I start with instrumental mechanics and very approachable ear training. We will listen to various styles of music in order to see the natural inclination and joy that the student possesses. From there, we will take our time developing good habits while learning music that the student finds fun and satisfying. I seek to instill musical goals and aspirations in new students by sharing and demonstrating music that they really enjoy. Read More

Since then, I have toured nationally with The Rockin' Road to Dublin (Female Fiddler), Cirque Musica: Holiday Wishes (Flying Violinist) and Celtic Illusion (Canadian Tour) as the Fiddler. Read More

I value my ability to tailor lessons and my curriculum to the particular needs and goals of each individual student. I truly believe that there is not a 'one-size-fits-all' approach to learning the violin! I have created my own combination of sequential exercises and repertoire selections, using influences from pedagogues that I have studied under, including Shirley Givens, Bettina Mussumeli, and Elizabeth Faidley, and major pedagogy styles including that of Shinichi Suzuki and Paul Rolland. The main takeaway I want my students to walk away with after our lessons is that they enjoy playing the violin. I believe that encouragement and patience are huge parts of music education. However, I also like to push my students to take challenges and reach their highest potential. This is why I encourage students to play in recitals, choose pieces they want to learn, and work on a few works at a time (including etudes, scales, short pieces, concerti, etc.). Read More
