I started teaching privately in 2010 and have helped students of all ages prepare for their exams (grades 1 to 8), auditions and other performances. Most of my students are long-term students and have been learning with me for 3-4 years, with some up to 6 years. I take great pride in their success and they have had a 100% success rate in the ABRSM exams. In addition to teaching privately, I have also taught in various primary schools in the London Borough of Newham (including in Winsor and Park primary schools), teaching violin to small groups of students in Years 5 and 6 (4th and 5th Grade) to take steps 1, 2 and grade 1 in the ECAM programme created by the London College of Music and the University of West London. In 1968, I auditioned and was accepted with scholarship to Dartmouth College as a participant in the Convocation of the Arts summer program. Upon my return to Chicago, I studied with the late Morris Gomberg, then Chairman of the Strings Division at the Chicago College of Performing Arts/Roosevelt University. My studies with Mr.Gomberg were interrupted in 1969 when he stopped teaching due to illness.  In the years following, I began to study the chamber music literature, participating in a number of chamber music workshops and master classes including programs at Mannes College of Music/The New School, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Music Mountain, Vassar College, and VMAC (Vermont Music and Art Center). Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! I strive to find an individual approach to each student and it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. While daily practice is necessary for quicker progress, not every student has the time for it. I have been teaching privately and in group classes for the past 6 years. This past summer, I taught a chamber orchestra of kids ages 6-12 in Narni, Italy. It was a truly rewarding experience. Most of my experience is with teaching private lessons. I am open to teaching all ages and levels. For violin, I teach mostly beginners and intermediate students, but can teach all levels for viola.
