As I entered high school, I decided to become moreactive and take leadership in the ensembles. I became the Concert Mistress of the symphonic and string orchestra and held onto my first chair until graduation. I also participated in the San Jose Philharmonic Orchestra, as first violinist. I was also a first violinist of the Korean American Music Supporters Association (KAMSA), performing a concert at the Disney Concert Hall. Since 1997, I have won countless awards from CWC Annual Music Competitions, California Music Education Association, KTVN Bay Area Annual Music Competitions, Prospect-Westmont String Orchestra voted Most Outstanding Instrumentalist, and received all 10 levels in both piano and violin in Certificate of Merit (CM) Tests.I moved to San Diego to study Music Performance at University of California-San Diego. I prefer and enjoy an environment that promotes expression of the student where we can learn from each other. For my beginning piano students, I like to start with Alfreds performance books and music theory to help assist the note and music reading. My cello students that are still in the beginning stages I like to have using the Suzuki books to help work towards more advanced music and skills. My voice students are all very different so I shape our lesson methods based on what style of singing theyre interested in, but we always begin working on proper breathing and learning solfege. Many of my students have different goals; some want to learn for pleasure, others need preparation for an audition, or individuals want refresher sessions for upcoming performances or events.
