Although I began my musical career in the Suzuki method, I intentionally balance the ear-training approach of that method with music theory to create well-rounded musicians. My students will learn how to sight read music, improvize their own melodies, perform in an ensemble (chamber and/or orchestral) and master the art of performance with a solid foundation in music theory. My cello students that are still in the beginning stages I like to have using the Suzuki books to help work towards more advanced music and skills. My voice students are all very different so I shape our lesson methods based on what style of singing theyre interested in, but we always begin working on proper breathing and learning solfege. I don't half way teach and desire my students to be able to sight read music and understand timing. If i have a student that doesn't understand I explain in in math and they have all understood how important timing is.
