For beginning students I usually start with Essential Elements 2000 for strings because it helps them get familiarized with the notes on the music staff even when they don't have any music theory knowledge. I also like to use Suzuki as they progress with the instrument and know the essentials like how to hold the instrument properly and how to hold the bow properly. Suzuki is also for beginners but it has a little more complex exercises which is why I wait to introduce Suzuki to them. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing that musical spark ingnited in a student. Every student has different interests and different learning styles. Therefore, I make it my number one priority to accomodate the student's learning needs. Each lesson, we will set small attainable goals that can be achieved each week in order to help fuel a student's desire to progress and continue practicing. Read More

Some highlights of my teaching career include working with A Gift for Music to give Title 1 schools access to the fine arts, being a cabin counselor and cello instructor for young musicians at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and providing private lessons at The Orlando School of Music. All these experiences created a burning desire for higher fine arts education, culminating in my part in the co-creation of the Central Florida Cello Association, an organization which provides the UCF cello studio with multiple masterclasses a year given by world class artists and acclaimed educators. For students who are just beginning I start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. I personally have worked through this text and I find it more than appropriate for the beginning violinist. As we progress we will graduate to the Suzuki Method books Volume 1. For intermediate students, I will assess the skill level and work from there. To keep learning fun and amusing, I will introduce music of my student's choice. Read More

Hi! Formally, I am a science teacher. I honestly don't know if I love teaching music or science more; I'm so captivated by both. I took off a year to finish a master's degree at UF, but now I'm back to what I love - teaching youth! I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. This degree has enabled me to become a much better instructor, as well as perceive student needs and adjust teaching for different learning styles. Read More

What really fueled my fire was a two week camp in Potsdam, New York in 2007 where I was given the chance to stay in a college dorm, meet professors, work with graduate students, and play challenging music in the selected ensembles. On Long Island I was the second violin section leader of the Bay Area Community Orchestra and a 1st violin, and violist for the Suffolk County Community College Orchestra. Read More

I have been teaching guitar and piano to many different students. I love to teach and I think that it is one of the most wonderful things in life. I have been playing in shows since 1999, performing styles from classical music to blues, jazz and rock. I love to play and record live. Read More
