For beginning cello students of all ages, I normally use one of my teacher's method books: Cellocity by Helga Winold of Indiana University. As my cello students progress, I slowly introduce smaller pieces that can normally be found in Suzuki method books. After my cello students have advanced significantly, I begin to introduce more complex pieces that are found in the standard cello repertoire. Eventually, my students reach a level where they gain the ability to gauge their experience level and select their own pieces with my approval. Read More

I have a wide range of experience in teaching music. I have taught over a dozen students through my personal music studio at Florida State University, and many of them have gone on to win auditions at the university level. I have taught beginners solid fundamental skills and I have taught advanced students to refine their musicianship and their technique. Much of my experience comes from the classroom: I completed my student teaching at the Florida State University Schools, and I taught five classes full time. Read More

I begin with developing sheet music literacy in my students right off the bat if they have no experience in reading music. I believe music literacy is one of the most important aspects of learning an instrument. I've always said, "not being able to read sheet music is like trying to be a writer who can't read, it makes no sense". I also begin with teaching proper form. Meaning how to hold the instrument and how to use proper technique. Read More

Who studies music raises one’s selfesteem, feeds the spirit, grows and develops multiple intelligences. This is why when a relative of a child goes to his or her concert, recognizes the effort through the applause, and therefore, contributes to the choosing of a destiny. To choose to play an instrument is the power of “to play and to fight” to build one’s own ethical project of life, which in many cases it is associated with choosing to be a musician. Read More

I love teaching the violin!!, my emphasys is in the real true and with love every thing. There are many ways to teach an instrument, one of them is from the perspective of visual memory, or I know, there are teachers who demonstrate first and then the student tries to imitate what he hears and sees There are also others who speak and ask for what they want without demonstrating anything, because obviously they are no longer at the level playing or because they have a condition in their hands or fingers, and they get things by speaking, making themselves understood by the word. As I previously mentioned above,I show each student as much as they can pick up.I can show a student just about anything they want to learn, but its really about how much they practice at home that determines their ability. If the student practices a lot we move much quicker and it becomes more fun and challenging.Music is endless and you can never stop learning.they are proving more and more every day how music affects your brain. When you just listen to music, you use every part of your brain.Few things do that. When you play music you are using even more of your brain.
