I have performed and studied in multiple cities and institutions in Florida and Boston, and am currently enrolled in multiple performing ensembles at my university in classical and jazz music. I began my musical journey at 5 years of age with the piano, and since then I have picked up a few brass instruments and classical/jazz singing. It with great desire that I seek to share my knowledge with others as I continue to grow and learn new things about myself and my field. Read More

Feel free to pick which materials you would like to use during our lessons. After all, it is YOUR lesson! If you have performance anxiety or don't feel comfortable singing in public, I know how you feel. I highly recommend that you make mistakes in my lessons (I will too, I promise). Allowing yourself to make mistakes and exploring your voice will help your singing in ways that may surprise you. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel students' desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs... Read More

My approach to teaching is very dependent on the student. From matching energy levels to providing different teaching techniques based on the student's learning style, from the 75+ students of varying learning types and ages I have taught over the years, I have learned how to adapt to each student's needs and execute varying teaching techniques effectively. My only requirement in my studio is that my students practice and come to their lessons prepared. Read More

While hearing something and being able to mimick it is important, being able to read music is a key factor when continuing to grow as a musician of all levels. I like to go over at least the basics of music theory with every student in bite-sized easy to understand pieces. This is in conjunction with our vocal lessons. Over the first few lessons we will get a base-line of skill level, range, musical interests, goals, etc. Read More

Often, the song is in a different genre entirely!) Piano: I generally teach from the Alfred Beginning Piano series, and the Hanon book of 60 exercises, to build strength and dexterity in the fingers. Theory and sightreading is introduced on day-one, and emphasized in every lesson going forward. I will always recommend additional books that are tailored to your interests -- there are a few blues fakebooks I love to recommend, for example, as well as classical etudes, improv books, and more, all to help round out your education. I really don't follow a specific book or tool. As I wrote before, every person is different and I always try to empathize with my students. With the Internet, the tools are almost infinite. I focus on breathing and comfort singing. I use different warming up exercises for every person, depending on their needs. I am always excited when one of my student make progress, wheter is big or small. Read More
