For beginner students, I typically start with rote lessons that teach the basics of the instruments. Then, I move into performing basic, pedagogically-appropriate scales, and begin curriculum in the Rubank Elementary Method books. For more advanced students, I usually have them start with the intermediate or advanced method books, and we learn more advanced major and minor scales, followed by arpeggios and chords (if on piano.) Navarro is a part of the liberation-oriented free jazz collective, Irreversible Entanglements. After their highly acclaimed self-titled debut album on International Anthem, a second album is due to be released in 2020. Navarro also has a duo project with Brooklyn-based drummer Tcheser Holmes. My particular brand of brass pedagogy has roots that trace back to the Chicago Symphony's legendary Bud Herseth. I believe in the pursuit of mastery of many of the basic techniques of brass playing - air movement, flexibility, and tone are the most important pieces of what we do as brass players, and I have collected an arsenal of exercises to build skill in these areas. I use a collection of techniques from a wide range of trumpet players from Ray Mase to Allen Vizzutti to Michael Sachs and will use these approaches to define musical outlook and technique. Originally from Houston, TX, I began my music studies in 2010 and graduated from Sam Houston State University with my Bachelor's degree in Music Education. I went to earn a Master's degree in Music Performance from the University of Houston in 2017. I recently moved to New York City after being accepted into the Manhattan School of Music's Professional Studies program for classical trumpet. In October of 2018, I won the 2nd trumpet position with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic Orchestra and have performed as principal trumpet and soloist with the orchestra. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my junior year of high school. I first began providing private lessons to local children that attended the local middle school that I had also attended myself. Consistency is the most important thing that I have stressed to all of my students. Consistency in practicing is vital to training your lips, fingers, and lungs to match what you have in your mind.
