Instruments: Piano Guitar Trumpet

For trumpet students I initially provide my own material, based on the exercises which I have found to be beneficial in my own playing. Early on, I'll ask most students to play a recording of one of their favorite songs, which we'll use to improvise to as well as for ear-training purposes. As soon as the student has learned enough notes, we'll begin playing songs. I firmly believe that developing a good sense of a singing style is the foundation for good playing. Read More

I have been teaching private students since 2010, and am looking forward to establishing a studio in the NYC area. I believe in helping students establish regular practice habits, with consistent warmup exercises and strong fundamentals. I also find that combining assigned music with music the student choose for themselves helps keep motivation levels high! I want my students to enjoy themselves while learning to play with proper technique, good breathing and musically sensitive interpretation. Read More

My private teaching experience began during my latter years in high school working with beginners. During college, I had a few high school students that I taught when they were preparing for auditions. I believe that students should enjoy what they're doing to keep interest levels high, so I encourage them to select appropriate music they will enjoy studying along with the material that is necessary for technique and development.
