I have taught since I was in college. I regularly taught music theory and piano to non keyboardists at the special music school. In addition I have worked with students of all backgrounds. My method is to find common ground with the student so that they can relax. Relaxation, emotional and physical, is very important for singing. After that, I teach breath support, vowels, style and languages. I speak 5 Western languages and some Mandarin Chinese. I enjoy showing how to use vowels within technique to be consistent and keep your voice healthy. I think how I teach is holistic, fun, and supportive. Once they have began to learn the techniques to properly play, I will begin them with repitoire that I find suitable for them to play and also what they would like to learn so this way the students are learning what they want, which makes the music learning process even more enjoyable! My Teaching experience began in High School when people would ask me to teach them after they heard me play. In order to teach my students more effectively, I decided to study classically at that time and studied with Morton Estrin, (Billy Joel's Piano Teacher) and Ross Barentine, a celebrated conductor. While they each had drastically different styles of teaching and playing, I was able to take the best from both and create a method of teaching that will give my student the technical ability to play advanced pieces while helping them to become well-rounded music artists.
