I definitely believe in realistic goals and I think one of the most important things during learning is that my students properly know what they have to do to be prepare for the next lessons and to achieve the current goal! I also really encourage my students in having a daily and enjoayble instrument practice. As natural as a singing voice can be it still takes effort and hard work to maintain your sound or keep yourself relevant. I self taught myself a lot. Through this self teaching I was able to help others go through the same process a little easier. I spent hours if not shut ins (days of just soaking and singing) editing and correcting my tone. Developing and finding your voice (confidence in yourself), knowing your sound/ style, and finally finding your rhythm to where even if there is no beat you can become one and be the beat is the basics before any singer can bloom. Connection.  I believe having a connection with the student is the most important factor. I strive to become close with all of my students.  This way we can learn more efficiently while still having fun.  I spend a small portion of lesson time getting to know my students and talking about what interests them.  Sometimes, I'll take these interests and base the a lesson around it.
