Since then I performed with Who's Bad: The Ultimate Michael Jackson Tribute Band, and my own hip-hop/soul band The Urban Sophisticates. Typically I like to emphasize fundamentals for my students since solid fundamentals is a foundation for everything else and is something that needs to be constantly maintained and can always be improved regardless of the student's level. In addition, I also take into account what the student is interested in and try to work on music that is engaging, fun, and within the ability level of the student. My first experience teaching was at the Saturday Conservatory of Music, currently based in San Gabriel, CA. I came on as the trombone teacher, but only acquired one student. This left me available to become a regular substitute and assistant for numerous other classes. I even taught the intermediate theory course for a semester. I spent a semester teaching music and English in Spain, and discovered an aptitude for approaching music from different directions. Read More
