Trombone - I utilize the books Abrams and Rochut-Melodious Etudes. I develop custom curriculum for each students level and learning style. At the first lesson, I evaluate what the student wants to get out of the lessons, what sparks their interests in music, and skill level. Music, for me, is more than a profession; it is a way of life. I graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with my Bachelors in Trombone Performance. I love to introduce young students to the exciting and ever evolving world of music. Performance has enabled me to participate in unforgettable moments, like playing in Davies Symphony Hall, the Berlin Philharmoniker, and various other venues accross the world. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonards Essential Elements book, as well a basic understanding of music. Once the student has progressed to have a nice grasp of the fundamentals of music, I usually begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. It was more of an epiphany than a gradual choice which saw me take on the career of a musician. From a young age and onward, I always maintained an affinity and constant desire for music. In all this time nothing has ever proved so gratifying. No doubt I have various instructors to thank for this love, along with their respective academic institutions. From completing my undergraduate studies at Cal State Northridge, and finishing with graduate performance work at the wonderful University of Southern California, I more than owe it to the world of music education to give back however I can.
