I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 2007, I graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano/Trombone Performance. Performing all over the world has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had the opportunity to play in Hollywood on American Idol, Hong Kong, Costa Rica, United Kingdom, Bahamas, Puerto Rico with the former lead singer from Journey, and many other places around the United States. I always start with a warm up, followed by scale studies. From there we move to etudes, and solos or concerti, and end with excerpts from books like the Mueller technical study or Arban book. For more advanced students and jazz players, I like to start with a warm up, scale study, learn tunes and the blues, big band charts, and end with listening and transcriptions. I strive to create a fun and captivating setting for students that includes making connections between standard repertoire and modern popular music. I am a currently attending SJSU for my Music Education degree. My main instrument is trombone, but I also teach beginning piano among other instruments.
