I've been teaching in the greater Los Angeles area for almost 20 years, teaching students from ages 4 - 92 (yes, really! 92!). Levels range from beginning to professional, with advanced students having won scholarships and awards. I encourage all of my students to learn the language of music; to learn about their instrument and the best means of expression using that instrument. For the past 8 years, lessons have been supplemented with an annual holiday recital where students have the opportunity to perform, which is an important part of the learning process! Read More

My teaching style is unique in that I do not push directly for quality. I believe that quality should be the natural product of efficient practice, which can only be achieved by early introduction to good technique, good habits, and positive motivation. When I start with a student, my goal is to make them smile and laugh. Students with a positive association with their instrument and playing it will be more inclined to listen and more inclined to practice. Read More

My music is an explorative collage of rhythm and harmony that incites emotion, creating a wild and memorable experience for listeners. I source inspiration from an array of influences, ranging from Miles Davis, to The Beatles. My musical pieces are born during a 3–4 hour session at the piano, and refined through excessive scribbling, and endless rehearsing. In the past year, I have expanded my professional development to work as an educator, and a scholar of music. Read More

I have been teaching Trombone and Bass to students of all ages for over 15 years and still love giving students the tools and technique to progress and achieve their goals as musicians. Seeing the moment it "clicks" for a student and watching them improve as players and the change that makes in their own image and self confidence is one of the most satisfying aspects of teaching music. My professional career has taken me around the world and allowed me to do and see things I never would have dreamed. Read More

I am a passionate and driven young musician who is in LA and wishes to mentor those the same way I was mentored. Although young, I have studied under esteemed musicians in the music scene and I have had great playing opportunities. I want to guide those wishing to grow as a brass player AND/OR composer. I am currently planning on attending Grad school and have been seen as a promising prospect by esteemed institutions such as USC's Jazz Studies Program and a Highly competitive post graduate program in Switzerland called Focusyear. I always start with a warm up, followed by scale studies. From there we move to etudes, and solos or concerti, and end with excerpts from books like the Mueller technical study or Arban book. For more advanced students and jazz players, I like to start with a warm up, scale study, learn tunes and the blues, big band charts, and end with listening and transcriptions. Overall, the most important thing a student can develop is a full tone and personal sound. Read More
