I picked up my first guitar at the age of 13, and I've been addicted to it ever since. I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2009 with a degree in Professional Music. I currently play guitar for international-touring Video Game Metal band Powerglove, as well as national-touring Progressive Metal band Lattermath. I consider my role as an instructor as one where I give the students information that they can't (or at least it would be very difficult) to learn on their own. I focus a lot on proper technique and reading notation for the guitar. I believe that the sooner a student no longer needs me to learn new pieces and grow artistically, the better I have done my job. My ultimate goal is to foster a deep love and appreciation for music, because I believe that at least in a small way this makes our world a better place. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Piano or Guitar Lessons for the Young Beginner by Andrew Scott and Gary Turner. The student, even at a young age, learns an introduction to music theory. Each concept is taught in a very methodical and step-by-step approach. Especially with adult students I think it is essential to cater to the students' goal. If this involves the need to learn certain techniques, requires knowledge of music theory or the ability to read music, I will advise the student so.
