I use Frederick Noad' s guitar methods for beginning and intermediate students. with Advanced students I use pieces from my personal repertoire that I played during college years. I try my best to keep lessons fun, especially with the younger students. For example, Sometimes we play music games, sometimes we walk/dance to learn about rhythm, sometimes we sing. I also have small group practices each month to combine students at about the same level, they play togher, they perform for each other, make constructive suggestions and encourage each other. Each student is very different, I usually try to get to know the student ( and parents) at the first few lessons so I know which approach works better to help the student. Read More

While working in these areas, I like to connect with the student on their individual goals and what they want to work on in their lessons. Sometimes they are shy and I don't really get an answer out of them but after they become comfortable with me I get an idea of what they want to learn.
